Using the Web, social media and emerging technologies, the Digital Communications team makes NUS stories come to life to a worldwide audience. It collaborates with faculty, staff and students across Faculties and Schools to create and share digital content that promotes the university’s key messages and brand.
A wide range of topics is featured, from research, partnerships, entrepreneurship to student life, in different formats across online platforms, to reach and engage a diverse audience that finds, consumes and shares information in many different ways.
The team aims to deliver responsible and effective communications on the University’s strategic initiatives as well as key messages and information among the campus community.
It also produces a range of publications to communicate the University’s mission, initiatives and campus news to internal and external audiences. Key publications include the Annual Report, NUS at a Glance (English and Chinese), and Around NUS. Some award-winning publications include the NUS Annual Report 2011 (Singapore Design Awards 2012 - Bronze).
The Media Relations team is the key liaison between the University and the news media. With a focus on formulating media strategies that enhance NUS' profile, the team prides itself on increasing awareness of the University's developments and accomplishments.
The team works with the news media to announce major initiatives as well as feature stories of NUS and its people making great strides in education, research and service. In addition, it handles queries from the media, facilitates media access to the NUS community, and offers a variety of resources to journalists here.
The team also supports the NUS community by providing consultancy for media-related matters.
NUS News is the official news outlet for NUS that aims to keep its readers within and beyond NUS up-to-date on the University’s developments and accomplishments.
The NUS News team produces articles on a regular basis, covering breaking news and the latest headlines, providing insights to various campus activities, academic programmes and research initiatives, as well as other news and information about the NUS community.
This is the team that manages major NUS events from inception to execution, ensuring each one reflects the University's spirit, reputation and identity. Whether it is an intimate lunch or a university celebration for hundreds, the team strives to create a memorable experience that leaves a strong and positive impression of NUS.
Among the key annual events organised by the team are Open Day, University Awards, Commencement and the State of the University Address. Many special or high-profile events, such as the Lee Kuan Yew Distinguished Visitors Programme and visits of eminent dignitaries, also come under the team.
The team also shares with the NUS community its wealth of experience in events and visits management through workshops and consultancy services.
The Strategic Communications team fosters awareness of NUS’ strengths and accomplishments by providing the analysis and messaging for integrated strategies that raise the visibility of NUS and help shape its global profile. It continually seeks new and innovative ideas for special initiatives and campaigns to showcase the best of NUS.
The team also formulates and monitors policies and standards relating to the NUS brand and logo to ensure a consistent, accurate and appropriate presence within and beyond the institution.
